New York City Mayor Eric Adams has just sworn in Jessica Tisch as the 47th NYPD commissioner.
Tisch comes to the job following a run as commissioner for the Department of Sanitation. She is now the second female commissioner in department history.

Prior to her role with sanitation, Tisch worked 12 years with the NYPD as a counterterrorism analyst before taking on the job of deputy commissioner of information and technology.
