The city's small business services commissioner and other city officials toured Flatbush businesses on Small Business Saturday as part of the new Shop Your City campaign.
Commissioner Jonnel Doris is urging New Yorkers to shop local and support their neighborhood businesses. He's also letting businesses know about the resources available to help them thrive.
Doris was joined by Assemblyman Rodneyse Bichotte and the BID executive director Kenneth Mbonu during his tour of the Little Caribbean section of Flatbush.
The officials let the owners know that the Department of Small Business Services has a number of resources available to help them like capital loans, legal help and programs to help them find employees.
Doris says the campaign is especially important this holiday season as retail stores are expected to see 70% of their sales between now and next year.
With many businesses looking to make a comeback from the pandemic, Doris says that support is needed now more than ever.
