NYC opens 100 gyms for children as part of Saturday Night Lights program

One hundred gyms across New York City are opening today to give young New Yorkers more places to play safely.
The $5 million Saturday Night Lights program is giving children the opportunity to participate in sports programs over the weekend.
The program is part of the Fiscal Year 2022 Recovery Budget and guarantees that no indoor gyms will be closed on Saturday nights.
Volleyball, basketball and martial arts are just some of sports being offered to the children.
The NYPD Department of Youth and Community Development, the city’s district attorney and several other organizations are partnering to make it all possible.
The gyms will be open every Saturday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
