Many New Yorkers are rushing to get tested for COVID-19 as cases continue to surge amid the holiday season.
Long lines were spotted at some testing facilities in several locations in Brooklyn and across the city in the past few days.
Officials have warned that as many residents travel and gather for the holidays, COVID-19 cases may continue to increase.
Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Thursday that the city is taking steps to try to lower the burden on testing sites. He said this includes distributing half a million at-home tests through community organizations as well as increasing testing capacity at city-run sites.
President Joe Biden has also announced plans to have all in-home testing covered by insurance in the new year.
If you're in a time crunch and want to avoid standing in line, the city has estimated wait times listed for dozens of locations online.
