The city that never sleeps is taking a pause as dozens of places are forced to shut down, and residents are urged to stay home.
Mayor Bill de Blasio signed an executive order Monday ordering the temporary closure of movie theaters, gyms and nightclubs.
There are also restrictions placed on bars and restaurants across the state. Cafes, bars and restaurants will be allowed to be open, but only for take-out and delivery.
George’s Restaurant along Westchester Avenue posted a sign outside their door saying they will be serving corned beef and cabbage and Irish lamb stew, but only for pick-up and delivery.
Dining rooms are completely closed to the public.

The mayor signed the executive order Monday, stating food establishments had to close at 8 p.m.
With thousands of restaurants all over the city, the mayor says this was the right move to make in order to reduce the possibility of contact between people and controlling the spread of COVID-19.
“This is going to be very, very tough for all of us. There's no question about it. There's going to be a lot of sacrifice here, a lot of pain. I hate to say it, but it's true,” says Mayor de Blasio.
Other businesses that also have to completely remain temporarily closed are nightclubs, movies theaters, museums, concert venues, gyms and casinos. That full shutdown is temporary.
UberEats is offering free delivery from local restaurants all in efforts to help small businesses get through this tough time.
The NYPD is hoping everyone will cooperate, but if they don’t, officials say businesses can face summonses if they’re not following the take-out and delivery rule.
