Even before this week's stormy weather brought flooding woes to the city, one NYCHA resident says she’s had to deal with a flooded bathroom for weeks.
Neireida Padin says part of her daily routine for the past few weeks has involved emptying out her flooded bathtub at least 15 times a day.
The 55-year-old has lived at the Clason Point Gardens for 33 years and says the bathroom situation has never been worse.
On top of the moldy ceiling conditions and cracked walls, only one outlet in Padin’s home has working electricity and it has been compromised by the constant flooding.
Padin says her next-door neighbor says she’s been having the same issues.
The tenants have submitted numerous work orders with NYCHA, but say they fear that the constant complaints will be faced with retaliation.
Padin says NYCHA told her that they won’t be sending a plumber to fix the bathtub until next week.
News 12 has reached out to NYCHA for comment and hasn’t heard back yet.
