Debris falling from the ceiling has made living at home uncomfortable for one NYCHA Mott Haven tenant.

Tape covers holes in the ceiling and wall of Providenci Rios' bathroom.

She says it started last year when there was a fire in her upstairs neighbor's apartment. While the effort from first responders saved the neighbor's apartment, it ruined hers.

"Flooded. You know, flooded. And then the water was all coming down," said Rios.

It left a hole in the ceiling sitting above her toilet that she had to cover up.

"I had to break a big black bag, cut it up. And I had somebody to help me to put it up and put some tape on there because it was so much," she said.

She says debris from the hole was falling on her and affecting her health.

"It falls on your hair, on your face and your eyes and your nose and your mouth. I'm inhaling this.," she said.

Not only is it a safety and health hazard she says it's an eyesore that she has to look at everyday and explain when she has people over.

"They see that they go, 'Oh my God,' but how you been holding out with all this," she said.

She says she asked NYCHA and 311 for help - but she says no one has come.

"When I'm saying everything, everything to try to get this fixed and nothing, nothing has been fixed."

The bathroom is a big issue among others in her unit. It has paint and water damage that she hopes will be fixed soon.
