Luz Rosado, a NYCHA resident at Butler Houses, says breathing in mold for four months has been a reality every day.

"I don't feel safe cooking in my own kitchen," said Rosado.

Mold covers the walls in Rosado's kitchen making her preexisting health problems worse.

"It's all the way down, all the way down this wall. And you can smell it," said Rosado. As she pointed out the mold in her kitchen.

Rosado tells News 12 she has been breathing mold in since January when a pipe in her kitchen burst, causing her kitchen to flood.

She says NYCHA partially fixed the problem by repairing a broken water line earlier in the year and removing a water- damaged countertop.

But the wall behind her sink was left behind with mold and exposed holes, bringing unwanted visitors.

"I'm getting a lot of rodents and water bugs. My kids are terrified, I'm terrified," said Rosado.

She has made complaints to NYCHA and 311 but the soonest they will come is in June.

"I'm tired of making complaint and complaints and complaints and they don't do nothing," she said.

News 12 reached out to NYCHA find out why her kitchen could not be fixed sooner. NYCHA said it will now schedule an inspection.
