The NYPD arrested a second suspect Monday in connection to multiple homicides and 17 robberies throughout the city, the NYPD says.
The NYPD is still searching for the third suspect, Jayqwan Hamilton, 35, who is also a Brooklyn resident.
Authorities believe three suspects are responsible for the two deaths and the multiple robberies throughout the city. On Sunday, police apprehended Jacob Barrosso, 30, of Connecticut, who officers say was part of the trio that killed a Brooklyn man in 2022.
The second suspect, Robert Demaio, 34 of Brooklyn, was arrested Monday morning.
The body of 25-year-old Julio Cesar Ramirez, of Brooklyn, was found unconscious and unresponsive at around 3 a.m. on April 21. A few months later on June 1, police found the body of John Umberger, 33, inside an apartment on the Upper East Side. Police were called to conduct a wellness check for Umberger and believe he was killed sometime between May 26 and June 1.
Both men were found without any visible trauma to their bodies. However, the medical examiner has confirmed to News 12 that they died from overdoses involving multiple drugs, including cocaine and fentanyl.
Police tell News 12 they believe the two deaths are linked to 17 other robberies that took place between Sept. 2021 and August 2022.
Barrasso and Demaio are now facing a slew of charges including murder, robbery and grand larceny.
