A 23-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday morning in Throgs Neck, according to police.
Authorities say it happened shortly after 1:40 a.m.
Officers responded to the scene at 2765 Sampson Ave. and found the victim with a gunshot wound to his chest.
Sources tell News 12 there was an argument between the shooter and the victim before shots were fired. The victim was hospitalized and then pronounced dead.
Police say the shooter ran from the scene and was wearing a black tracksuit
Residents in the Throgs Necks houses tell News 12 they heard two shots go off overnight. Police say no arrests have been made.
This is the third death from a shooting in Throgs Neck in the last week. In an interview earlier this week, Council Member Kristy Marmorato told News 12 the uptick in crime is due to having only three cars patrolling multiple neighborhoods.
