Police say 37-year-old man was killed in an early Sunday morning shooting in Crown Heights.

Police say they responded to a 911 call shortly after 8 a.m. about a person shot near St. Johns Place and Troy Avenue.

Authorities say responding officers were told about an unidentified person having shot the 37-year-old man, later identified as Donnell Thomas, in the chest.

The individual then fled the scene, according to police.

Thomas was taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County where he was pronounced dead.

It was not immediately clear what led to the shooting.

No arrests had been made as of Sunday evening.

Police ask anyone with information about the shooting to give them a call.
