Police say multiple NYPD officers were assaulted at subway stations across the Bronx.
One of those attacks happened Saturday in Kingsbridge, leaving 16-year veteran Lt. Gypsy Pichardo in the hospital, authorities say. Pichardo was captured on camera being beaten and slashed in the face by two passengers on a train at the 238th Street station.
The most recent assault happened Monday in Crotona Park. According to police, three men fought NYPD officers at the Freeman Street station after police say they tried to remove them from the station for smoking cigarettes.
Two men are in custody facing a slew of charges in the assault on Pichardo. Two others have been charged with assault of an officer, resisting arrest, violating local law and trespassing in Monday's incident as well. News 12 is told the third suspect in that case is still on the loose.
