A 43-year-old pedestrian was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Claremont overnight across the street from his home, the NYPD says.

Police identified the man as Kelvin Mitchell. Authorities say he was crossing E. 168th and E. 169th Street on Webster Avenue when a black Mercedes 300 hit him.

News 12 obtained video just moments before the crash at 12:41 a.m. Saturday where a black car is seen speeding in the bus lane.

Mitchell was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead. Police say the driver left the scene.

Residents on Webster Avenue told News 12 that Mitchell was a family man who lived on the block all his life with his mother. He leaves behind three children, they said.

Anyone with information is urged to call 1-800-577-TIPS.

NYPD officers were at the scene of the crash Saturday conducting a vehicle safety checkpoint.
