Police say a 46-year-old woman was found dead in a building in the Bronx overnight.
According to police, officers responded to a 911 call at 720 Westchester Ave. at around 3:39 a.m. and found the woman unconscious and unresponsive. They say that they discovered the woman on the living room floor of her home.
The NYPD has identified the victim as Selma McLean and that she is a resident at the building on Westchester Avenue. They say the deadly incident is being considered domestic in nature.
A 26-year-old woman has been taken into custody in connection to this fatal incident.
One woman who spoke with News 12 described herself as being very close to the victim and her family. She says that the victim lived in the building with her 26-year-old daughter who had been recently released from a mental health institution and showed News 12 a text message between her and the victim last night, where the victim said that her daughter was hearing voices and had threatened her.
Another woman at the scene tells News 12 that the 26-year-old daughter is the same woman that NYPD officers took into custody.
The NYPD did not provide any details surrounding how the woman died or the arrest officers made and no charges have been filed at this hour.
