Five men were arrested and charged after police said a woman was grazed by a bullet while inside of her Parkchester home.
“Her hand was on her head,” said Nataliz, the victim’s daughter. “As she took [her hand] off, there was a big gush of blood just rushing down on her nightgown.”
Police said the bullet came through the ceiling from the apartment above and hit the woman in her forehead.
“We grabbed a towel right away, and we moved her to the sofa, compressed the towel on her head, and I called 911,” said Nataliz.
It happened shortly after 11:30 p.m. Sunday on Purdy Street near Parker Street.
Police charged five men, all of whom are from the Bronx, with second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Investigators said two of the men are 17 years old.
The other three men are 19: Dezmon Frazier, Kiron Valerio and Tyquon Williams.
A woman from the third-floor apartment declined to comment on Monday night.
When News 12 arrived at the house, the victim’s family said their mother was resting.
“It’s just very surprising to be in the comfort of our own home, just trying to go to sleep, and just waking up like that [to the shooting],” said Nataliz.
