NYPD: 66-year-old bicyclist fatally struck by pickup truck in Soundview
According to detectives, the 66-year-old man was traveling eastbound on Westchester Avenue before he was struck by a black GMC truck that was traveling northbound on Commonwealth Avenue just before noon.

Police say a 66-year-old bicyclist was fatally struck by a pickup truck late Saturday morning in Soundview.
According to detectives, the 66-year-old man was traveling eastbound on Westchester Avenue before he was struck by a black GMC truck that was traveling northbound on Commonwealth Avenue just before noon.
First responders at the scene attempted to save the man's life before he was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
The driver remained at the scene, according to police. As of Saturday afternoon, police said the driver had not been arrested.
The circumstances that led to the crash were not immediately clear.
