The NYPD says an 8-year-old was shot on Beekman Avenue on Tuesday. 

According to police, the incident took place just after 5 p.m. The 8-year-old victim suffered a gunshot wound to the thigh and is expected to be OK. 

The mother of the 8-year-old told News 12 off-camera that the boy was shot while getting off of his school bus in the middle of a crossfire. 

No weapon was recovered at the scene, according to law enforcement officials.

Officials say two suspects are in custody at the 40th Precinct but have not been charged.
