The NYPD says an armed man was killed by police in Queens after he fired shots at officers.
Police say around 6:25 p.m. Saturday, they received a call from an unknown man making threats to government officials and NYPD officers. He stated that he would, “Blow the heads off of the first police officers that he saw.”
When officers arrived at the man’s location near 116th Avenue in marked vehicles, they say the man emerged from his home and identified himself as the caller and began cursing.
Police say the man refused to cooperate and drew a firearm, shooting several rounds at the officers.
At least six officers then fired shots at the man and tried to perform life saving tactics before he was taken to an area hospital where he died.
The investigation remains ongoing.
