NYPD: Arrests made in Webster Avenue homicide; unrelated gun scare incident under investigation
Police say they have arrested two men in connection to a homicide Monday night on Webster Avenue.
They say 19-year-old Desire Louree has been charged with murder, while 21-year-old male Deshaun Grier faces a charge of criminal possession of a weapon.
Detectives say a man in a blue jacket inside the building on 35-60 Webster Ave. fired shots at two other people on the ninth floor of the hallway. He then ran to the eighth floor and fired shots at 16-year-old Kahlik Grier in the neck, who later died.
Police confirm Kahlik Grier is the younger brother of suspect Deshaun Grier.
It is unclear who the other victims were at this time.
Also happening in front of the same building as that homicide, just three days later, detectives are investigating an incident in which they say a man was seen walking down the street on Thursday with a black assault rifle. Police say this happened right in front of 35-60 Webster Ave. around 1:30 p.m. They say people who saw him were alarmed and scared.
No one was hurt in this incident.
It is not known at this time if there is any connection between the two.
