The NYPD is asking for the public’s help to find a man who they said raped a 19-year-old woman in Clason Point.
Police said the woman met the man and got into his car. Then the man raped her and drove off.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, near White Plains Road and Gildersleeve Avenue.
Investigators said the victim was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
As of Sunday evening, it was unclear why the two decided to meet in the area at that time.
Women who live nearby told News 12 that this was a wake-up call.
“Wow, that’s scary,” said Andrea Thomas. “As a mother, my guards are up right now. I’m really scared.”
“The area seemed nice before, but it’s changing,” said Oneda.
Police said the man that they’re searching for is about 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, dark grey pants and white sneakers.
