An apartment fire in Soundview led to the discovery of human remains unrelated to the fire Saturday.

Authorities say police they were called to a fire inside apartment 2 at 1211 Manor Ave. around 4 p.m.

After firefighters put out those flames, a 71-year-old man was found lying on the ground with three stab wounds on his neck. He was taken to Jacobi Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

While the fire has been contained, the area was still active Sunday as police conducted their investigation.

No arrests have been made.

The name of victim is being withheld until his family is notified.
