A Bronx father falsely reported that his car was stolen with his baby inside to the NYPD.
Investigators say they later found out that the car was stolen, but there was no baby inside.
Alford Darfour, 41, was inside a pizza shop on Westchester Avenue when his car was stolen around 10 p.m. Saturday.
When he called the cops, he allegedly told them that his 2-month-old was asleep in the backseat. However, police say there was no missing baby, and the child was with its mother the whole time.
Police say they've seen more people making false, or partly false, reports and that it's a misuse of the efforts and energy of law enforcement.
The father is facing a charge for filing that false report. The stolen car still hasn't been found.
