A robber with a knife targeted a longstanding Williamsbridge bakery on Monday morning, according to the NYPD.
The incident took place at around 4:40 a.m. at Narciso Bakery. The suspect displayed a knife at an employee and threatened him before removing cash from the register and fleeing on foot.
Neighbors tell News 12 that the bakery sometimes opens early for people to get fresh bread. Fellow business owners, including those at Chase Pharmacy, say they aren’t surprised that this incident took place.
Chase Pharmacy employees say that they have a buzzer on their door exactly for these types of situations, and that White Plains Road, particularly between East 215th and East 217th streetts, has seen knife and gunpoint robberies in the past.
The pharmacy’s employees also say that they see less NYPD presence in their area than they did in the past.
