An argument in a Bronx bodega left one man seriously injured and an employee on the run.
Police say the suspect, who is also an employee at the deli, was caught on surveillance video with a knife in his hand around 1:30 a.m.
The NYPD says the victim, a 36-year-old man, was inside Webster Gourmet Deli when he got into a dispute with the employee, who then came from behind the counter stabbing the victim in the left arm.
Another employee at the deli, Malik Algamil, who witnessed the incident tells News 12 he believes the argument was over a wrongly made sandwich. He says the customer was yelling and arguing with the employee.
He adds the customer left then came back an hour later to buy something else and that was when the attack happened.
"The deli man was outside fixing the milk and I didn't know he had a knife in his pocket or something like that. So, I just saw that guy jump on the customer and start stabbing him and we were trying to stop it. We were screaming at him, he got scared, and he ran away," says Algamil.
Algamil tells News 12 the suspect worked at the deli more often when there was a different owner, and that recently they started to call him when they needed help filling shifts.
The victim was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in serious, but stable condition, officials say.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
