NYPD cracking down on speeding, drunk driving ahead of holidays

The NYPD says extra highway patrol units will be out in all five boroughs. Officers will also be cracking down on speeding, saying it is the number one cause of death for vehicular crashes.

The NYPD has a clear message for New Yorkers: don’t drive drunk or under the influence. They are cracking down on speeding and drunk driving ahead of the holiday. 
Officers will be out in full force to make sure the streets are safe this holiday season.
The NYPD says extra highway patrol units will be out in all five boroughs. Officers will also be cracking down on speeding, saying it is the number one cause of death for vehicular crashes. 
A new push this year from the Department of Transportation focuses on cannabis. DOT says that while it may be legal to possess it, it’s illegal to drive under the influence of it. 
The NYPD says there is no excuse for drunk driving when there are so many options for public transit in the city.
