Police say the death of a 7-year-old girl in the Bronx earlier this week has now been declared a homicide.
Police say 7-year-old Julissa Battles was found unresponsive inside of her apartment at the J.P Mitchel houses at 175 Alexander Ave. just after 8 a.m. Tuesday when police responded to a 911 call. The young girl was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals Lincoln and pronounced dead.
Police sources have confirmed reports saying Battles died after being punched by her brother.
Her grandmother, Yolanda Davis, said this wasn't the first time the girl was hurt in the home.
The case is still under investigation. There are currently no arrests.
