A man is now in custody after shooting at an EMT worker in an ambulance in Staten Island.
Police say EMTs from Richmond University Medical Center were responding to disorderly person report outside of the Funky Monkey bar. The suspect, 37-year-old Thomas McCauley, was apprehended and was set to be transported to a medical center.
While in the ambulance, McCauley allegedly shot one round inside the ambulance and struck a 25-year-old EMT worker in the shoulder.
McCauley then ran out of the ambulance and was caught by retired NYPD detective and Department of Sanitation lieutenant.
Police recovered a 38-caliber revolver at the scene. Charges for McCauley are pending.
