NYPD: Man arrested, charged with murder in shooting death of Belmont man

The NYPD says the incident happened just before 2 p.m. Sunday on the corner of East 182nd Street and Mapes Avenue where the shooter fled on a bike.

Police have arrested and charged a Manhattan resident in the shooting death of a Belmont man on Sunday.
The NYPD says the incident happened just before 2 p.m. Sunday on the corner of East 182nd Street and Mapes Avenue where the shooter fled on a bike.
Devonte Sorriano, 29, was found with one gunshot wound to the head. Herman Gayle was charged with murder.
Family and neighbors say Sorriano was a kind soul and was taken too soon.
