The NYPD is investigating a deadly collision that took place between a truck and a 20-year-old man on a scooter in Williamsbridge.
According to law enforcement officials, the crash took place after what they say was an attempt to pull the scooter driver over. That's when officials say the scooter driver collided with a box truck along Laconia Avenue.
Officials say that the driver of the scooter fit the description of a suspect wanted in connection to an alleged scooter robbery pattern, according to the NYPD.
Exclusive video obtained by News 12 shows the moment EMS personnel are seen performing lifesaving measures on the victim before he was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver remained on the scene.
"I was working on the block and when I came out, I heard the cops was chasing the guy up the one-way street," said one local resident who watched the crash unfold. "When he came up here, the truck hit him and dragged the bike over here."
The identity of the victim has not been released by authorities.
