NYPD: Man hospitalized after shooting in Mott Haven

According to NYPD data, there have already been at least 23 shootings in the 40th precinct this year.

Police are investigating a shooting in Mott Haven that hospitalized a 24-year-old Bronx man Sunday night.
Around 10:15 p.m., authorities say shots rang out at the Mott Haven Houses at 350 E. 143rd St. One of those bullets struck the victim in the back.
At this hour, the victim is in stable condition, according to the NYPD. However, this incident adds to an increasing amount of violence in the area.
According to NYPD data, there have already been at least 23 shootings in the 40th precinct this year. That includes the neighborhoods of Mott Haven, Port Morris, and Melrose.
That number is up from the same period last year when there were just 18 shootings reported so far.
At this hour, police say they are still investigating the shooting. authorities say no arrests have been made.
