A shooting near Yankee Stadium Wednesday night left one man hospitalized in critical condition, police say.
The Yankees played at home Wednesday afternoon, but the game finished up at least three hours before the shooting, which took place around 7 p.m. Wednesday.
According to the NYPD, the 22-year-old victim was across from the stadium at East 165th Street and Jerome Avenue standing near the entrance to Mullaly Park when gunshots were fired. He was struck in the head, but police say it's unclear whether he was the intended target of the shooting. The victim was taken to Lincoln Hospital where he's in critical condition.
Police flooded the area searching for clues that could lead to the person who pulled the trigger.
Right now, the victim has not been identified, and police say the investigation is ongoing.
