The NYPD says an officer was struck by a car Sunday night during a traffic stop in Soundview. The person behind the wheel is still on the loose.
According to police, two officers conducted a traffic stop on a possible stolen Mercedes-Benz near the intersection of Elder Avenue and Westchester Avenue, near a Cookie's Kids department store. The car contained four people. When the suspects tried to drive off, they hit a female officer, police say.
Police say the second officer shot his gun at the car as it drove away, but the bullets didn't hit anyone.
Police found the crashed car less than two minutes away from the initial area.
