NYPD: Overnight shooting in Co-Op City leaves 1 injured

The man who was shot was taken to New York Health + Hospitals/Jacobi. No word was given on his condition.

An overnight shooting close to several schools in Co-Op City has left one man in the hospital, police say.

According to the NYPD, a 51-year-old man was shot in the shoulder at around 11:30 p.m. around 700 Baychester Ave.

The shooting was near an entrance to M.S. 180 and their basketball courts. It's also part of a larger campus, which includes P.S. 178, P.S. 153, Bronx Health Science High School and Truman High School.

The man who was shot was taken to New York Health + Hospitals/Jacobi. No word was given on his condition.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
