The NYPD announced its strategic plan for the new year.
The new plan highlights the department's mission to fight crime and improve the quality of life in the five boroughs.
The four main goals outlined by New York City Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell are aimed to help the NYPD step forward.
The first goal includes strengthening the workforce by seeking diverse talent and providing effective training. The second goal calls for transforming policing in New York City through a review of department staffing. The third goal mentions engaging community partners. Lastly, promoting public safety and respect by interacting more with communities heavily impacted by crime.
The plan was announced at the State of NYPD breakfast Wednesday in which the NYPD looked back at its accomplishments in 2022.
