Police in New York are warning pet owners not to leave their furry friends inside cars this summer.
The NYPD posted a video on their Twitter page showing an officer smashing a car window in order to rescue a dog from a hot car.
Police say some caring New Yorkers saw the pup in a hot car on the upper East Side near Hunter College for over two hours this weekend and called 911.
Officers say they found the car off, windows shut, and the dog was distressed.
They took the dog to the vet, and there is now a criminal investigation underway.
