Police say they need your help identifying two burglars who they believe have been breaking into schools across the Bronx to steal calculators.
NYPD officials say since the beginning of February, calculators have become hot-ticket items for thieves. They say nine different calculator stealing incidents across six Bronx schools have taken place in that time frame.
Three unidentified males tried breaking into South Bronx Community Charter School last week by climbing over the locked security gate. The school’s co-founder says that luckily they only had to pay $300 in damages.
The NYPD says $6,000 worth of calculators were stolen from Legacy College Prep, but the executive director of the school says the total was closer to $11,000.
Surveillance video captured at another school shows two teenagers using a chair to break into a classroom and steal nearly $7,000 worth of calculators. The police believe these suspects are connected to all of the calculator-related crimes.
