NYPD targets illegal RV encampment in Williamsbridge

The NYPD says it’s cracking down on a long-running RV community that’s remained largely out of sight for years in Williamsbridge — after neighbors complained about illegal dumping and unregistered vehicles along Bronx Boulevard.

Mobile homes line parts of the street, some up and running with generators, cameras and water tanks — giving the area the feel of a permanent camp, despite the vehicles’ ability to up and go.

"There's nothing wrong with it," a neighbor told News 12.“Its living in your car that you paid $30,000 for.” But he raised a question others in the neighborhood keep asking, 'where does their waste water go?'

Jacob Rodriguez said he regularly walks through urine and trash just to reach his car, and claimed some RV sewer pipes are left open — allowing waste to drain directly onto the roadway.

“People don’t even come and clean the streets,” he said.

Police say a joint operation with the Department of Sanitation was conducted in January, resulting in 96 towed and 43 vehicles without plates, issued summonses. The NYPD says another operation is planned in the near future.
