NYPD: Teen sent to the hospital after being shot late Monday night in Melrose

The NYPD has no description on a suspect and is asking anyone with information to come forward.

Police tell News 12 at 8:45 p.m. they got a call for a shooting over at 786 Courtland Ave. A 14-year-old boy was found shot in the elbow. Police say he was rushed to Lincoln Hospital where he is in stable condition.

According to NYPD data, in the past month there have been four shooting victims in the area that covers the 40th Precinct, which includes Melrose. For this year, at least 38 people were shot, which is a 42.3% increase from last year.

The NYPD has no description on a suspect and is asking anyone with information to come forward. You can do so by calling the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577 TIPS. Remember all calls remain confidential.
