A stabbing in Park Slope early Sunday morning left a 19-year-old woman dead and her twin sister hospitalized.
Police say the victims were attacked by two men at the corner of 4th Avenue and Saint Marks Place just before 2:30 a.m. One of the suspects was wearing a mask.
Samyia Spain was pronounced dead at a hospital after being stabbed in the neck and chest, according to authorities. Her sister was stabbed in the arm and is currently in stable condition.
A witnesses told News 12 that the sisters encountered the suspects while they were in a bodega to purchase a snack.
"One of the guys had complimented the two girls who walked in with their friends. They said no, they weren't attracted,” said the witness.
Witnesses say the bodega closed its doors for a few minutes to keep the two men out. When the door was reopened, they were still there.
"The second they reopened the door, he ran back into the door and started attacking them,” said the witness. "Everybody started tending to her. One of her friends took off their shirts and started putting compression on her neck to try to slow down the bleeding. She was gushing blood just all over the street."
Police have not been able to confirm the statements of the witnesses.
No arrests have been made yet, according to authorities.
