A longtime employee at the Chief Medical Examiner's Office was arrested Oct. 26 for stealing a Louis Vuitton bag while picking up a dead body, police say.
Trevor Rheams, 49, from Queens, was charged with petit larceny and official misconduct after a colleague found the bag inside the car used to transport the body to the medical examiner's office in Manhattan. Rheams was employed by the OCME as a motor vehicle operator since 2007.
If convicted, Rheams could face up to a year in prison.
His next court date is scheduled for Jan. 10.
