Police say one man was killed during a late-night shooting in Belmont.
Officials say they found 37-year-old Miguel Aviles with gunshot wounds to his stomach behind a building on East 183rd Street. He was later pronounced dead at St. Barnabas Hospital.
The shooting reportedly happened during a memorial service Saturday around 10:30 p.m.
Police say a 25-year-old woman also suffered a grazed gunshot wound. She was also taken to St. Barnabas Hospital.
"Everybody just started scattering," said Shaqueta James. "Children started running, ducking with scooters. It was pandemonium."
No arrests have been made, and an investigation is ongoing.
