Officials: 15 injured in fire at Sheepshead Bay apartment building

The FDNY says a two-alarm apartment building fire injured over a dozen people overnight in Sheepshead Bay.
Officials say the fire started on the first floor of the seven-story building on Homecrest Avenue around 3 a.m. They say it spread and intensified into a two-alarm fire.
News 12 was told the building was non-fireproof.
The FDNY says it took 118 firefighters to bring the fire under control in about an hour.
Officials say 15 people, including three firefighters, suffered minor injuries in the fire. The firefighters were treated at a hospital.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
