Six people, including two firefighters, were injured during a fire in Crotona Park on Sunday, police say.
The FDNY says the fire started on the third floor of a five-story building at around 4:30 a.m. outside of 1384 Bristow St. Around 60 firefighters responded to the fire with 12 units.
Two firefighters were sent to the hospital to be treated for injuries.
Four residents were also injured in the fire and treated at the scene.
"Everybody was banging everyone's doors to come outside," one resident said. "The smoke was in the hallways so they busted the windows so people could come out."
According to the FDNY's Twitter page, it took firefighters less than an hour to get the fire under control.
There is no word on the condition of the two firefighters who were injured and it's not clear how many people were displaced.
Fire officials tell News 12 they are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
