Officials say three men were injured, one in
critical condition, following a police-involved shooting in Queens late Friday
night.
Police say the incident
happened just before midnight at a house party in Springfield Gardens.
According to police,
detectives were watching the party near 219th Street and 130th
Avenue because they believed there was a potential threat.
Police say a group of unknown
men approached the house, pulled out at least three guns and started shooting
into the home where at least 75 to 100 people were in attendance.
Officers got out of their car
and exchanged gunfire with the group of men, hitting three of them, according
to police.
The three men were
transported to the hospital, two suffered not life-threatening injuries and one
remains in critical condition.
News 12 has learned the
detectives involved in the shooting were not injured, but were taken to the
hospital for evaluation.
However, authorities say they
are still trying to figure out what exactly led to the shooting and are
encouraging anyone with information to call police.
