Officials say a late-night fire at an apartment building in Unionport turned into a crime scene early Thursday morning.
Police say 45-year-old Noel Farrow was found dead with a gunshot wound inside the five-story apartment building located at 2235 Gleason Ave. near Castle Hill Avenue. They say they arrived at the scene just before midnight.
According to officials, the fire started inside a third-floor apartment toward the back of the building. They say surveillance video may have captured someone coming in and out of the third-floor right before and after the fire broke out.
"Right now, I'm worried about what happened because people aren't going to feel secure inside the building," says Jose Borrel, superintendent of the building.
Police say when the smoke from the apartment fire cleared, they found Farrow's body lying in the kitchen with a gunshot wound to the head. They say he was living inside apartment 4A and was pronounced dead at the scene.
News 12 is told that four firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling the blaze, but are expected to be OK.
