The city's Parks Department broke ground Thursday to renovate a park in Soundview.
The $1.6M project aims to revitalize the Parque de Los Niños park on Morrison Avenue.
The project will rebuild the park's playground as well as the seating area along Harrod Place.
Officials say the project is being funded by the mayor's office and the borough president.
The playground will be renovated with new play equipment, safety surfacing for children ages 2-12, a spray shower area, swings, benches, a drinking fountain, steel fencing, concrete pavers and new landscaping.
The seating area renovation will include new replica benches from the 1964 World's Fair.
