Elected officials are calling for the city and state to create a vaccine reporting system that allows New Yorkers to track vaccine racial distribution in real time to ensure equitable racial distribution.

On Sunday, they held a rally outside of City Hall to introduce their resolution.

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and leaders of the New York City Council's Black, Latino and Asian Caucus called on the state Department of Health and New York City's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to take steps to prioritize vaccinations for high risk New Yorkers, but also make sure communities of color have adequate access to doses.
 


They say timely and accurate reporting of demographic data can help prevent the vaccine from continuing to disproportionately affect people of color in New York. 

They are calling on the city to 
require racial data to be collected as vaccines are being administered - information that is not​ being collected now.
