Part of a building came falling down on Fteley Avenue in Soundview Thursday evening, displacing multiple families.

The American Red Cross is assisting some of the families, who will not be able to return to their home until the Department of Buildings assesses the property.

The American Red Cross says it is assisting nine displaced families. It was not immediately clear how many people lived in the building.
