At least three firefighters suffered non-life-threatening injuries while battling a five-alarm fire at an auto body shop in Cypress Hills, officials say.

More than 100 firefighters responded to the fire after 7:30 a.m. Saturday at 3432 Atlantic Ave.

Fire officials say they when they arrived they initiated an interior attack on the fire, but found conditions too dangerous to operate in. Ladders were then lifted in the air as water had to be poured into the auto body shop.

News 12 is told 169 firefighters and EMS units were at the scene to put the fire out.

Javid Adams, whose friend works at the auto body shop, says he was hoping that fire wouldn't be too severe.

"This is his daily bread," Adams says. "So being out of a job right about now, I kind of feel bad for him."

One of the firefighters were taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, while two others were taken to Kings County Hospital, according to the FDNY.

There is no word on how the fire started, but fire officials tell News 12 that the scene is now under control.
