Bronx elected officials are proposing new ideas to improve parts of the Kingsbridge community.
Officials announced details of a new report that examined potential for development in the commercial district of the neighborhood.
The report examines Broadway and the surrounding commercial district between West 230th and 238th streets.
Business leaders and elected officials have teamed up for the effort.
Proposals include improvements to street cleaning, parking meters, better lighting and job growth. They also include safer streets and graffiti removal.
Officials say they hope to attract more people from outside of the area as well as improve the quality of life for residents in the community.
"Our professionals, our Bronxites -- what they want is amenities," says Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. "What they want are malls. They want pubs. They want all of the hip and trendy spots to go hang out at; and go and eat; and go and shop."
